“People usually complain that music is so ambiguous, and what they are supposed to think when they hear it is so unclear, while words are understood by everyone. But for me it is exactly the opposite…what the music I love expresses to me are thoughts not to indefinite for words, but rather too definite.”

― Mendelssohn Felix

Music unites people. At DeGamba, our goal is to bring communities of people together through the love of art.

Music is deeply spiritual. To build your personal relationship with music is one of life’s most powerful and mysterious gifts.

Music is a large part of our lives. Taking music lessons furthers brain development and carries with it an additional multitude of benefits. Playing an instrument especially improves the motor, visual and auditory functions.

Music improves the executive function of the brain. The ability to strategize, plan, observe details and create are all significantly improved through the making of music. Playing a musical instrument lights up the brain like fireworks!

Music bridges the gap between the right and left hemisphere of the brain by balancing and processing multiple functions simultaneously. Subsequently, the corpus callosum is able to handle more volume through the learning of an instrument.

Additionally, the violin has been shown to aid mental skills in the following ways: Sustained attention • Selective attention • Divided attention • Long-term memory • Working memory • Logic and reasoning • Auditory processing • Visual processing • Processing speed
