Drum Lessons for All Ages
Our teachers have experience teaching kids through adults, and we can help you master rock, pop, jazz, and other drumming techniques.
Drum Lessons for Kids
For younger students, our drum lessons focus on the fundamentals that set a strong foundation in music. Kids learn proper stick grip, hand coordination, and footwork as they start to understand rhythm and timing. We make lessons fun by incorporating backing tracks, so students feel like they’re playing with a band right from the start. Teaching kids to practice is an essential part of our program; we help them set clear, achievable goals that keep them motivated and excited about improving. Over time, students layer in musical concepts like tempo and dynamics, and they develop essential ear skills that will benefit them as musicians.
Drum Lessons for Adults
Adults often come to drum lessons with specific musical goals in mind, like playing along with their favorite songs or mastering a certain style. Our adult lessons focus on helping each student achieve these goals while exploring their favorite genres. Whether you’re into rock, jazz, pop, or blues, our instructors can guide you through genre-specific techniques and rhythms, such as rock fills, jazz brushes, or reggae off-beats. Imagine finally playing along to Led Zeppelin’s “Whole Lotta Love” or grooving to your favorite Motown classics! With patient instruction and personalized lessons, adults can find a fun and stress-relieving way to learn music.

Beginner Through Advanced Drum Lessons
Our beginners start with the basics: setting up the drum kit, learning the names of each part, and practicing basic rhythms. They work on the foundations of drumming, like simple rock beats, bass and snare coordination, and basic fills. As students gain confidence, we introduce slightly more challenging concepts, helping them build a solid rhythmic vocabulary and a feel for the instrument. Students learn things like:
- Playing from the wrist
- Full stroke rolls
- Single to doubles exercises
- And so forth
The drills and practice exercises may seem painstaking, but they set the stage for more advanced drumming fairly quickly.
For intermediate students, lessons focus on refining skills and expanding their drumming toolkit. They begin learning more complex fills, variations on common grooves, and essential rudiments like paradiddles and flams. We also work on timing, helping students lock into a groove and keep a steady beat, whether playing solo or with backing tracks.
Advanced drummers tackle new techniques and solo ideas that take their playing to the next level. Lessons at this stage might cover challenging drills, intricate fills, and advanced concepts like polyrhythms and odd time signatures. We help advanced students explore different styles, work on improvisation, and develop their personal drumming style.
Whether you’re a beginner eager to get started or an advanced drummer seeking new challenges, our program is here to help you thrive. Contact us to learn more or schedule your first lesson – let’s make some music!
