Comprehensive, Personalized Guitar Lessons
We provide a solid foundation for anyone who wants to play the guitar. We’ll cover basic skills, from fingerpicking to strumming, then progress to more advanced concepts as you are ready. We are committed to helping you build confidence and musicianship.
Guitar Lessons for Pre-College and Adult Beginners
Our beginner lessons focus on the core fundamentals of guitar playing. We start with basics like proper hand position, picking techniques, and tuning. From there, students dive into scales, learning both major and minor to grasp the building blocks of melody and harmony. Students also begin practicing chords, starting with open chords and simple songs to develop smooth chord transitions. As they become more comfortable, we add bar chords, a technique that opens up the entire fretboard.
In addition to chording, beginners learn arpeggio accompaniments, giving them tools to create more intricate textures when playing. Our program even includes note reading, so students understand the musical language behind the notes they play. By building these foundational skills, students gain the ability to play along with songs and progress toward more advanced techniques.
Guitar Lessons for Every Goal and Genre
Each student comes to guitar lessons with unique goals, and we’re here to help them explore their favorite genres and techniques.
Chording and Acoustic Guitar
For students drawn to acoustic guitar, our lessons cover everything they need to feel confident with chord-based playing. They learn common chord progressions, fingerstyle patterns, and various strumming techniques. We focus on building rhythm and timing, so students can accompany themselves or play along with others, whether they’re strumming pop songs or performing at open mics.
Foundational Blues Technique
Our blues lessons introduce students to iconic blues scales and chord structures, creating a solid foundation in this classic genre. Students work on essential techniques like bending, slides, and vibrato, along with the 12-bar blues format. By studying blues, students develop strong improvisational skills, giving them the freedom to jam and create their own solos.
Advanced Rock and Country Techniques
For students interested in rock and country, our advanced lessons cover powerful techniques, including palm muting, alternate picking, and bending. Rock students learn how to create dynamic solos with tapping, hammer-ons, and pull-offs, while country players practice hybrid picking and the quick, rhythmic patterns that define the genre. We break down famous solos and techniques, so students gain a deeper understanding of the styles they love.
Other Advanced Guitar Lessons
Our advanced lessons aren’t limited by genre; we explore jazz chords, classical fingerstyle, and any other techniques students wish to pursue. Whether you want to work on specific skills, tackle complex compositions, or expand your repertoire, we’re here to help you achieve your goals.
