Study The Vocal Genre of Your Choice
Does your child love to sing around the house, does your teen plan to audition for a high school music theater production, or do you want to learn how to sing in a band yourself? We are here to help, no matter your vocal goals. From Schubert Lieder to Broadway showtunes, we can teach technique, interpretation, and performance skills that will help you improve as a singer. Even children or middle schoolers who haven’t experienced a voice change yet can benefit from lessons – singing is a great way to learn good breathing technique, ear training, and other musical fundamentals.
Bel Canto Singing
Bel Canto technique is the general bedrock for classical singing styles, but these fundamentals also apply to popular genres as well. You’ll learn to support your singing with diaphragmatic breathing, and you will learn to produce a beautiful sound without any tension in your vocal chords or body. This allows you to project, expand your range, and sing healthfully for many years to come. We can also develop your classical singing ability by working on scales and arpeggios, studying classical voice repertoire, and helping you prepare for auditions or choir tryouts.
Popular Music Styles
Many of our students want to participate in pop, rock, jazz, country, gospel and more. Each genre has idiosyncrasies that we can cover in lessons, and many of our instructors have been members of a band. From covering your famous pop tunes to performing and interpreting your own songs, we are here to help. We can help you learn to belt, sing with a mixed chest voice, and even incorporate pop techniques like vocal fry.
Musical Theater
High school and community theater programs are alive and well. Let us help your child prepare for stage auditions – we can help them learn specific songs, choose flattering audition material, or develop their theater singing technique and stage presence. From “Defying Gravity” to “Some Enchanted Evening,” there are so many great Broadway songs to learn.
